| Now I am not going to let you know exactly who I am but suffice to say I have been around the Police Force for many years I started out a patrol constable in uniform and moved my way up to CID 4 years later. When I joined, you had to walk everywhere and be at a certain point at a certain time for the Sergeant to check your pocket book. It was damn hard work but were good times. You had to be in for 4 years before you were allowed to apply for any department hence why it took me 4 years to get onto CID I stayed on CID for some 10 or so years dealing with everything from serious assaults, to burglary and rape. When I moved up to a force department I became involved in more serious crime including importation of drugs and car ringing to a high value and armed robbery. The last job I did when I came off the department, was a car ringing job where the defendants handled in excess of £10,000,000 (yes 10 million pounds) in just 8 weeks. They had been active for many years and subsequently they received lengthy prison sentences. | | From there I went onto work at a force and national level dealing with criminal intelligence. I stayed there for some 4 years and finally, after a stint in the Metropolitan Police (Not my home force) I returned to my force only to be slapped back into uniform I stayed on shift for 2 years, hating every second of it, until I was asked to do an area job on an estate, which is where i am now Whilst I am still in uniform, it has to be one of the most rewarding and satisfying jobs I have ever done in the Police. I am not a very corporate person, as you may gather, and so the residents on the estate receive the treatment they deserve. This is my approach - You commit crime on my estate and I am coming after you
- You cause problems for other residents and I am coming after you
- You ask me to help you to get a house move, forget it, it ain't happening
- Ask me to help you find the little toe rag that broke your window I will
- And so the list goes on...
The modern Police Service is starting to wake up to the fact that pink and fluffy does not work. Hopefully by the time I retire it will have achieved the realistic approach |
